Day Hike 7/19/2015 with Stephen and Camille
I picked Stephen and Camille up at 5 and we headed to the Peralta Trailhead. We hiked my option 1, below, but it took us 9.5 miles instead of 8.4, so, my planning was a little off.
The weather was a little hotter than forecast, and there were only a few drops of sprinkle while we hiked. Stephen picked a bag of pricey pear fruits on the way back to make jam with.
Hiking around Bluff Spring Trail, we got to see Weaver’s Needle from the East. This is the same view of it we’d had last week driving back from Aravaipa. This was the first time we had seen the 2,3, and 4 needle views. When you look at Weaver’sNeedle from the South, like at Weaver’s Overlook, the 3 smaller peaks are masked from view. This let us confirm that it was Weaver’s Needle we had seen from far, far away and above.
After hiking, we drove back to their house, swam, and then they bought our dinner at the Blue Adobe. I had a really nice day.
Plans for Day Hike on Sunday, 7/19/2015
All options start at Peralta Trailhead and head out Dutchman’s Trail 104 for at least 5.4 miles. Which option will depend on time, temperature, and how I feel once out there.
I am planning for this day because I don’t have to work, and the temperature is supposed to peak out at a mere 94 degrees F, and that not until afternoon. If I start early, and carry enough water, I can do any of these options.
I have already hiked all of these trails except Weaver’s Crosscut, which isn’t really a trail. I do have a pretty good GPS track for the route.
